Benin Poverty Rate

Benin's poverty rate fell to 27.2% in 2021, down from 37.2% in 2018, according to World Bank. This represents a decrease of 10% from the previous year. Benin has poverty rate higher than the global median (27.20% vs median 1.90%). Compared with the median in Africa, Benin is lower (27.20% vs regional median 37.35%) and ranks 22nd out of 36 countries in Africa.

Benin's annual unemployment rate rose to 1.72% in 2024, up from 1.66% in 2023.
