USD/CNY : US Dollar / Chinese Yuan

USD/CNY rose by 0.04% on Friday October 24, trading at 7.1276 with a weekly gain of 0.05% and monthly loss of 0.11%. The People's Bank of China's (PBOC) policy of maintaining yuan stability, demonstrated by stronger-than-expected daily midpoint fixings, has limited upward pressure on USD/CNY. Easing US-China trade tensions have provided support for the yuan, consequently exerting downward pressure on USD/CNY. However, mixed economic data from China including a slowdown in Q3 GDP growth, presents underlying challenges that could influence USD/CNY. The PBOC's long-term strategy to broaden yuan usage in international trade aims to increase demand for the yuan, potentially weakening USD/CNY over time. Its 52-week high was 7.3504, while its 52-week low was 7.0863.
