Mongolia Annual Imports

Mongolia's imports rose to $8.75 billion in 2022, up from $6.84 billion in 2021, according to the UN Comtrade Database. This represents an increase of 27.8% ($1.9 billion) from the previous year. Top imports for Mongolia were Mineral fuels, oils, waxes, bitumen ($1.95 billion), Vehicles other than railway or tramway ($1.35 billion), Machinery, mechanical appliances and reactors ($787.29 million). Mongolia's top three import partners in 2022 were China (34.8%), Russia (30.3%), and Japan (7.7%), together accounting for 72.8% of total imports.

Mongolia's trade surplus rose to $3.81 billion in 2022 from $2.4 billion in 2021. This shows an increase of 59% ($1.41 billion).
