Macao SAR China Interest Rate

Macao SAR China's interest rate was 4.5% in September 2025. This rate decreased from 4.75% in July 2025. The Monetary Authority of Macao followed the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's rate cut. This action was a response to the US Federal Reserve's September 2025 rate reduction. The move supports the linked exchange rate system between the Macao pataca and the Hong Kong dollar. Lower financing costs aim to ease borrower pressure and boost the local economy. Macao SAR China's record low interest rate was 0.5% in September 2015 and record high was 5.75% in July 2023.
