Maldives business confidence in tourism fell to -69 points in Q2 2025, the lowest in four quarters. This is a decline of 186.2% from Q1 2025 which registered 80 points. The downturn is due to the traditional off-peak season impacting tourism businesses. Resorts reported contractions in bookings, revenue, occupancy rates and average room rates. Employment and labor costs also weakened as businesses implemented cost-cutting measures. Maldives's record low business confidence in tourism was -100 points in Q2 2020 and record high was 100 points in Q1 2021.
