Serbia Unemployment Rate

Serbia's unemployment rate fell to 8.5% in Q2 2025 from 9.1% in Q1 2025. This marks the lowest rate in three quarters. The decline of 22,400 unemployed individuals reflects accelerated private consumption growth and a tightening labor market. Employment rose to 51.5% in the second quarter. Serbia's record low unemployment rate was 7.9% in Q2 2020 and record high was 20.3% in Q1 2016.

The Serbia unemployment rate shows the percentage of the total labor force that is jobless and seeking employment. The Republic Statistical Office calculates this rate by dividing the number of unemployed persons by the sum of employed and unemployed persons in the labor force then multiplying the result by 100.
