Uruguay Unemployment Rate
The unemployment rate in Uruguay decreased to 6.9% in September 2025 from 7.0% in August 2025. This reduction occurred amidst 2.1% year-on-year GDP growth in the second quarter of 2025, supported by agriculture, fishing, mining and manufacturing. Household consumption rose by 2.3%, contributing to labor absorption. However, persistent structural issues like high youth unemployment and labor market rigidities limit more substantial decreases in the overall unemployment rate. Uruguay's record low unemployment rate was 6.9% in July 2025 and record high was 11.2% in October 2020.
