Angola Interest Rate

The Banco Nacional de Angola lowered its benchmark interest rate to 19% in September 2025 from 19.5% in July 2025. This 50-basis point reduction occurred as inflation decreased to 18.88% in August 2025. The central bank attributed the rate cut to sustained disinflation, supported by falling food prices and a stable kwanza. The bank aims to boost economic growth and investment. Some analysts worry the cut is premature due to potential inflation from higher fuel prices. Angola's record low interest rate was 10.25% in July 2015 and record high was 20% in July 2021.
