Kazakhstan Interest Rate
The National Bank of Kazakhstan increased its benchmark interest rate to 18% in October 2025 from 16.5% in August 2025. This hike responds to inflation reaching 12.9% in September 2025, surpassing expectations. Demand exceeding supply growth and active fiscal measures fueled this inflation. Persistent price pressures from food, non-food items and services led to the monetary policy tightening. Kazakhstan's record low interest rate was 5.5% in August 2015 and record high was 18% in October 2025.
