Kazakhstan's unemployment rate held steady at 4.6% in the second quarter of 2025, unchanged from the first quarter. The number of employed persons grew by 110,100 year-on-year to 9.3 million. The labor force increased by 107,800 year-on-year to 9.74 million. Digitalization, automation, platform employment growth and more young people entering the workforce are key labor market influences. Long-term unemployment rose slightly from 1.7% to 1.8% between the first and second quarters. Kazakhstan's record low unemployment rate was 4.6% in Q3 2024 and record high was 5.1% in Q1 2016.
