Nigeria Poverty Rate

Nigeria's poverty rate fell to 34.2% in 2018, down from 35.8% in 2015, according to World Bank. This represents a decrease of 1.6% from the previous year. Nigeria has poverty rate higher than the global median (34.20% vs median 1.90%). Compared with the median in Africa, Nigeria is lower (34.20% vs regional median 37.35%) and ranks 21st out of 36 countries in Africa.

Nigeria's annual unemployment rate fell to 2.99% in 2024, down from 3.07% in 2023.
