India's annual CO2 emissions rose to 3.06 billion tonnes in 2023, up from 2.83 billion tonnes in 2022, according to Global Carbon Budget. This represents an increase of 8.2% (231.16 million) from the previous year. India has the 3rd highest annual CO2 emissions. Other top countries are China, United States, Russia and Japan.
