Japan Consumer Confidence
Japan's consumer confidence increased to 35.3 points in September 2025, up from 34.9 points in August 2025. This 1.1% month-over-month rise is the highest level since December 2024. The improvement was driven by gains in overall livelihood, employment outlook and willingness to buy durable goods. The government removed its prior assessment of slow consumer sentiment improvement. Factors contributing to this positive trend include the Japan-U.S. trade agreement's auto tariff reductions and a halt in fresh vegetable price increases. Japan's record low consumer confidence was 21.6 points in April 2020 and record high was 44.6 points in November 2017.
