Romania's unemployment rate rose to 5.9% in August 2025 from 5.8% in July 2025. This increase of 0.1 percentage points was driven by 9.8 thousand more unemployed individuals, totaling 481 thousand. The male unemployment rate climbed to 6.2% from 6.0% while the female rate held at 5.5%. The August rate is 0.2 percentage points higher than in August 2024. Romania's record low unemployment rate was 4.7% in March 2019 and record high was 9.6% in March 2010.
