Canada Retail Sales YoY
Canada's retail sales year-over-year increased by 4.9% in August 2025, up from 4.2% in July 2025. This acceleration was driven by a 1.8% rise in motor vehicle and parts sales and a 3.2% increase in clothing and accessories retailers. Core retail sales, excluding autos and gas, rose 1.1% in August after a July decline. Sales at gasoline stations decreased by 2.0% in August. Canada's record low retail sales year-over-year was -30.2% in April 2020 and record high was 55.5% in April 2021.
