Hungary Retail Sales YoY
Hungary's retail sales year-on-year increased to 2.4% in August 2025, up from 1.7% in July 2025. This growth was driven by a rise in non-food sales which accelerated to 4.9% in August from 2.9% in July. Automotive fuel sales grew by 2.2% in August, reversing a 2.4% decline in July. Food sales remained steady at 2.3% year-on-year in both months. Hungary's record low retail sales year-on-year was -13.3% in March 2023 and record high was 17.5% in March 2022.

Hungary retail sales yoy measures the percentage change in the value of Hungarian retail sales compared to the same month in the previous year. The Hungarian Central Statistical Office calculates this monthly indicator by comparing the turnover of retail trade enterprises against their turnover from 12 months prior. It covers sales of food, beverages, fuels and other goods.
