Taiwan Retail Sales YoY
Taiwan's retail sales year-on-year decreased by 2.2% in September 2025, down from 0.4% growth in August 2025. This decline was driven by a 17.2% drop in automobile and motorcycle sales and a 7.5% decrease in fuel sales. Consumer caution and seasonal weakness affected spending on large purchases. While food, beverage, tobacco and electronic shopping sales increased, they did not compensate for the overall contraction. Taiwan's record low retail sales year-on-year was -13.3% in June 2021 and record high was 22.5% in June 2022.
