Argentina's government debt to GDP fell to 83.2% in 2024, the lowest since 2021, down from 157% in 2023. This sharp decline resulted from aggressive fiscal adjustments including spending cuts and increased tax revenue. Monetary contraction and GDP recovery in the third quarter also aided the ratio. Argentina's record low government debt to GDP was 34.5% in 1997 and record high was 166.7% in 2002.
