Indonesia Unemployment Rate

Indonesia's unemployment rate fell to 4.76% in Q1 2025. This is the lowest rate since Q4 1997, down from 4.91% in Q4 2024. Job growth occurred in most economic sectors, led by trade, agriculture and manufacturing. The manufacturing sector added jobs in footwear, small-scale food industries and motorcycle components. The labor market shows resilience with more full-time employment and less underemployment. Indonesia's record low unemployment rate was 2% in Q4 1983 and record high was 11.24% in Q3 2005.

Indonesia's unemployment rate is the percentage of the labor force that is jobless and actively seeking work. It's calculated by dividing the number of unemployed individuals by the total labor force, then multiplying by 100. The labor force includes employed and unemployed persons.
