Sri Lanka Core Inflation Rate
Sri Lanka's core inflation rate held steady at 2% in September 2025, matching the August 2025 figure. This stability reflects consistent underlying price pressures. Headline inflation moved from deflation to positive territory but core inflation's moderation was less pronounced. Food prices rose 3.8% year-on-year in September, up from 2.9% in August. Non-food inflation increased to 0.7% from 0.4% over the same period. The Central Bank kept its policy rate at 7.75% in September. Sri Lanka's record low core inflation was 0.6% in December 2023 and record high was 50.2% in September 2022.
