Sri Lanka Gini Index
Sri Lanka's gini index fell to 37.7 points in 2019, down from 39.3 points in 2016, according to World Bank. This represents a decrease of 4.1% (1.6) from the previous year. Sri Lanka has gini index higher than the global median (37.70 points vs median 34.60 points). Compared with the median in Asia, Sri Lanka is higher (37.70 points vs regional median 33.15 points) and ranks 5th out of 30 countries in Asia. Sri Lanka's poverty rate fell to 2.7% in 2019, down from 3.8% in 2016.
