Egypt Poverty Rate

Egypt's poverty rate fell to 1.4% in 2021, down from 2% in 2019, according to World Bank. This represents a decrease of 0.6% from the previous year. Egypt has poverty rate lower than the global median (1.40% vs median 1.90%). Compared with the median in Africa, Egypt is lower (1.40% vs regional median 37.35%) and ranks 33rd out of 36 countries in Africa.

Egypt's annual unemployment rate fell to 7.2% in 2024, down from 7.33% in 2023.
