Peru's poverty rate rose to 5.9% in 2023, up from 4.8% in 2022, according to World Bank. This represents an increase of 1.1% from the previous year. Peru has poverty rate higher than the global median (5.90% vs median 1.90%). Compared with the median in Americas, Peru is higher (5.90% vs regional median 2.25%) and ranks 4th out of 22 countries in Americas.
Peru's annual unemployment rate fell to 4.83% in 2024, down from 4.9% in 2023.
