Malaysia's unemployment rate held steady at 3% in August 2025, matching the July 2025 figure. This stability reflects ongoing economic expansion and increased labor force participation which grew to 17.51 million persons. Employment also increased to 16.99 million persons. Gains were most significant in the services sector, encompassing wholesale and retail trade, information and communication and accommodation and food services. Manufacturing, construction, agriculture and mining sectors also experienced positive employment trends. Malaysia's record low unemployment rate was 3% in March 2015 and record high was 5.3% in May 2020.
