The United States' annual CO2 emissions fell to 4.91 billion tonnes in 2023, down from 5.08 billion tonnes in 2022, according to Global Carbon Budget. This represents a decrease of 3.3% (167.48 million) from the previous year. The United States has the 2nd highest annual CO2 emissions. Other top countries are China, India, Russia and Japan.
