United States Non Manufacturing PMI
The United States Non-Manufacturing PMI fell by 3.8% to 50 points in September 2025, its lowest level in four months. This decline was driven by a contraction in business activity to 49.9 from 55 and slower growth in new orders which dropped to 50.4 from 56. Employment remained in contraction at 47.2 due to hiring delays and difficulties finding qualified staff. Tariffs also increased operating expenses, contributing to ongoing price pressures. United States' record low Non Manufacturing PMI was 41.7 in April 2020 and record high was 67.6 in November 2021.

United States Non Manufacturing PMI : Definition
The United States ISM Services PMI is an index measuring the economic health of the US non-manufacturing sector. It surveys purchasing and supply executives about business conditions. A reading above 50 indicates expansion in the services sector while a reading below 50 suggests contraction. The month-over-month change compares the current reading to the previous month. The index is calculated from survey data on business activity, new orders, employment, supplier deliveries and inventories.
