United States Durable Goods Orders
United States Durable Goods Orders increased by 2.9% in August 2025. This follows a decrease of 2.7% in July 2025. The August rise was primarily due to a 7.9% increase in transportation equipment with defense aircraft and parts orders up 50.1% and nondefense aircraft and parts orders up 21.6%. Orders for non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft, a key indicator of business investment, grew by 0.6%. The manufacturing sector's New Orders Index expanded to 51.4 percent in August, showing renewed demand. United States' record low Durable Goods Orders was -19.3% in April 2020 and record high was 16.5% in May 2025.
