United States personal spending increased by 0.6% in August 2025, up from 0.5% in July 2025. This marks the highest rise in five months. The increase was driven by a 0.7% rise in services spending and a 0.5% rise in goods spending. Consumer expenditures outpaced the 0.3% rise in the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index. This trend highlights sustained consumer activity, fueled by high-income households benefiting from asset gains. United States personal spending's record low was -11.4% in April 2020 and record high was 8.3% in May 2020.
